Governor Abdulswamad to establish Mombasa Creative Board to promote local artists
The governor stressed the need for public participation, ensuring equal representation across diverse creative sectors within the board.
In a positive turn for Mombasa's creative community, Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir has initiated plans for a Creative Board, bringing smiles to local creatives as the year draws to a close.
During a meeting held at the Swahilipot Hub Foundation on Saturday, Governor Nassir instructed the trade and sports-youth departments to collaborate and engage stakeholders, aiming to establish the board by February 2024.

Expressing the objective of this board, Abdulswamad emphasised its role in promoting local artists, both within the region and on an international platform.
Highlighting the importance of inclusive decision-making, the governor stressed the need for public participation, ensuring equal representation across diverse creative sectors within the board.

Acknowledging the diversity of ideas within the creative community, he emphasised the necessity of understanding the industry's challenges and needs before forming concrete plans.
Encouraging collaboration between established and emerging artists, the governor urged respect for the perspectives of upcoming talents in the formation process.
Abdulswamad pledged to explore ways to secure funding for the board while challenging artists to brainstorm additional financial support to effectively operate the board's initiatives.
Expressing gratitude, he credited the artists' support in popularizing his agenda during his campaign, recognizing their efforts in composing campaign songs and leveraging their creativity to endorse his candidacy.
